Dinard became famous around 1900, when the rich and celebrated, coming from all countries, began to appreciate the place for its soft climate and its protected beaches. They built immens villas, nearly castles, along the coast-line. You can still admire them today.
Dinard is situated face to Saint-Malo, on the opposite-, west-side of the Rance-mouth. It's a dam with highway on it and the Rance-Tidal-Power-Station in it, that connects the two towns.
The town is still a very busy seaside resort : there is a casino, thermal baths, an Olympic swimming pool and an airport.
